PRP Q & A

How can PRP help me?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a condensed solution of powerful healing cells. Every time you have an injury, no matter how minor it is, blood rushes to the site. This blood is full of platelets and growth factors, which stimulate an entire cascade of healing events.

It’s because of these healing components that your blood clots, collagen forms, and wounds heal. The idea behind PRP is to gather as many platelets and growth factors as possible to inject them into a targeted area. Over time, new skin tissues and collagen start to develop and replace older, damaged tissues.

For PRP hair restoration, when your PRP is injected into multiple areas on your scalp, the powerful concentration helps prolong the growing phase of your hair cycle, so you can achieve a fuller, thicker head of hair.

What happens during a PRP treatment?

Your PRP treatment from Echo Aesthetics & Wellness begins with a one-on-one discussion with Celine, the nurse practitioner. She talks with you about your skin or hair concerns and designs your personalized PRP treatment package.

To get started, Celine simply draws a small amount of blood, usually from the inside bend of your arm. She processes your blood in a centrifuge, which rapidly spins your blood and forces growth factors and platelets to separate, leaving platelet-rich plasma behind.

For PRP facials, Celine may inject the PRP into several areas of your face, or use a microneedling tool to gently puncture your skin and then apply the PRP directly. Some PRP facials involve a combination of injections and applications.

If you’re having PRP restoration, Celine injects your PRP into areas of your scalp where you’re noticing hair loss.

When does PRP start working?

It can take several weeks for you to really notice the benefits of your PRP treatment, but rest assured, those growth factors are hard at work forming new tissues and growing new hair. You may notice anti-aging benefits from your PRP facial in as little as three to four weeks. Or for PRP hair restoration, you should notice new hair growth within about three months.

For both PRP facials and PRP hair restoration, Celine typically recommends a package of anywhere from two to four monthly treatments to achieve optimal results. She might recommend coming back to Echo Aesthetics & Wellness once or twice a year for preventive PRP treatments, so you can continue enjoying your results.
