From Your Face to Your Hair: Learn How All-Natural PRP Offers All-Natural Rejuvenation

When it comes to aging skin or hair loss, there’s no shortage of products that claim to solve these age-old cosmetic issues. But researchers are now finding that the best solutions may have been under our noses (or under our skin) the whole time.

At Echo Aesthetics & Wellness, under the experienced direction of Celine Nesjan, NP, we’re constantly on the lookout for new products or services to meet the cosmetic needs of our Las Vegas area clients. From new laser technologies to cosmetic injectables, we offer the latest, evidence-based tools to help you look and feel your best. One area we’re particularly excited about is regenerative medicine, namely platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. This all-natural weapon allows us to tap your body’s own incredible resources to regenerate and rebuild from within.

From your face to your hair, here’s how PRP offers all-natural rejuvenation for the most common cosmetic concerns.

The power of platelets

Your blood contains just four ingredients:

Your platelets perform the critical role of clotting your blood, but what many people don’t realize is that they also contain growth factors, or proteins, that help with healing and regeneration. When you cut your finger, for example, your platelets arrive on the scene to help stop the flow of blood. But their job isn’t over — they also release growth factors that provide a signal for healing resources to come in and begin the rebuilding and repair process.

For years now, many medical circles have turned to platelets to help people heal more quickly, especially from soft tissue injuries. Realizing this potential, the cosmetic world has found great success in breathing new life into aging skin using platelets, as well as encouraging hair follicle growth and health.

To harvest these platelets, we draw a sample of your blood and isolate your platelets in a centrifuge. We then mix this concentrate back into your plasma and inject it into areas where you can use a regenerative boost.

The skin you’re in

One of the biggest concerns our clients have is prematurely aging skin, which is especially prevalent in our sunny Las Vegas climate. Of all the forces that age your skin, few are as powerful as the sun’s ultraviolet rays, which break down the connective fibers in your skin.

On top of this breakdown is the natural loss of collagen and elastin, the two proteins responsible for the elasticity and tone in your skin. This loss begins slowly, at first, often in your 30s, and then ramps up as you enter your 50s. The end result is that your skin is left to sag and wrinkle without a tight support network underneath.

With PRP therapy, we provide your skin with renewed resources to rebuild your skin on a cellular level. When we inject the PRP, your platelets release growth factors, which encourage cellular renewal and collagen synthesis for younger looking skin.

The hair up there

Hair loss affects two-thirds of men over the age of 35 and 40% of women over the age of 40. While there are solutions through topical creams and hair transplants, PRP is fast becoming the weapon of choice in battling hair loss.

When we introduce PRP into your scalp, the platelets are thought to increase the blood supply in your scalp, which helps with follicular health. This not only helps safeguard your existing hair, but it promotes the development of new follicles.

In one study, 11 men with significant hair loss underwent four PRP treatments and the results were successful. For example, the average follicular units per square centimeter went from 71 to 93. As well, their existing hair grew stronger and a common pull test (taking a group of hair and pulling on it) went from the loss of 10 hairs to just three, on average.
